Nuclear Power

CO2-free nuclear power has an important role in UPM Energy's sustainable energy production scheme. UPM Energy has a remarkable shareholdings in the energy company Pohjolan Voima Oy (PVO), which is a majority shareholder in nuclear power producer Teollisuuden Voima Oyj (TVO).

Power plant unit Olkiluoto 3 EPR  

UPM Energy has shareholdings in the energy company Pohjolan Voima Oyj, which is a majority shareholder in nuclear power producer Teollisuuden Voima Oyj (TVO).

The first nuclear power plant owned by TVO in Olkiluoto was completed in 1978. UPM Energy is a share holder also in the new plant unit, Olkiluoto 3 EPR.

Thermal power

UPM Energy’s thermal power plants produce electricity depending on the market situation. 
 

Shareholdings

Oy Alholmens Kraft Ab

Through a shareholding, UPM Energy owns a share of Oy Alholmens Kraft Ab, a biopower plant in Finland. The power plant uses mostly wood based biomass and peat as fuel.

 

Hydropower plants operated by UPM Energy

Renewable and flexible hydropower is an essential part of our versatile energy portfolio. UPM Energy has eight hydropower plants in Finland. In addition, we operate, as a service, hydropower plants in Kokemäenjoki, Iijoki, Kemijoki and Tengeliönjoki. These hydropower plants are owned by Länsi-Suomen Voima, Kolsin Voima and PVO-Vesivoima.
